Fat Tire Time

It”s been snowing in Crested Butte for the last couple of days.  I”m not sure I”m ready for the change of season yet, but what the hell can ride in the snow too.  I”m thinking about building up a demo-Nuke with fat tires.  Anyone want to come up to Crested Butte this winter and do some snow biking with us?

Another great Moab Mania Event – ReActive Off Road Handcycles

DSCN1553Wow!  What a great time… again.  Telluride Adaptive Sports sure knows how to put on a great off road handcycling event.  So for the fourth year, a group of handcyclists, with the help of Telluride Adaptive Sports, Darol Kubacz and ReActive Adaptations conquered the trails in Moab Utah with success.

Day 1 = Brand Trails, the EZ and Lazy Trails just north of town offer a great chance for newer and season riders to test themselves on trail with both flowing sngle track and technical obsticles.

Day 2 – Dyno Flow trail at North Klondike Bluff Trail system.  The BLM and local Moab trail builders have been busy building new trails in the Klondike Bluff area and the Dyno Flow trail is one of the newest.  Dyno Flow is perfect for off road handcycles.  Just wide and technical enough for ever level of rider!

Day 3 – The day off.  Most of the participants enjoyed the day off with Splore, rafting Westwater Canyon.  Those who did not go enjoyed the day exploring Bartlett Wash and the miles of slickrock playground….good times indeed.

Day 4 – the Finale.   SLICK ROCK PRACTICE LOOP.  Need I say more.  Possibly to most famous trail in Moab.  Check out the pictures for more information.

Special thanks again to Tim McGough and M’Lin with Telluride Adaptaive, as well as all of the volunteers who came out the help us ride some of the coolest terrain on Earth!

Moab Mania: Jet Turner Testimonial

moab-trailsThis was my first year on the Moab trails with my new Bomber. I was able to clear obstacles that I need assistance with last year on another manufacturers bike. We rode three tough/technical trails on three separate days and the bike was ready for more (wished my body was!). My Bomber worked flawlessly.

I would highly recommend ReActive Adaptations bikes to anyone looking to get back into the outdoors.
I am a incomplete Quad and I have upper body strength issues. Jake was able built the bike with a lower range of gearing to compensate for my lack of power. I am not a racer and all out speed is not my primary concern. The reward comes more from being out in the fresh air/blue sky and working through challenges that come up on the trail. Hand cycle mountain biking takes a lot of seat time to gain the skills required to pull off some of these maneuvers but, FAILING a move only better prepares a person for the next attempt!

Jake, Thank you for your MB technical guidance during the Moab Mania adventure!

Hitch Rack for Road Handcycles

I’ve been asked by many to modify the existing ReActive hitch rack to fit road handcycles which are typically much longer and not as wide as most off road handcycles and recumbent trikes.  Ask and you shall receive!  Now road handcycles fit on the rack.

The rack shown in the photos is made for a vehicle with a space tire located at the bumper, hence the rack main boom is 10″ longer then the standard rack.

As always, if you need a custom rack built, please do not hesitate to let us know what you need.

Check out http://www.crestedbuttecomputers.com/dev/reactiveadaptations/handcycle-hitch-rack/ for more information on the standard rack.

How to put your road Handcycle on a ReActive work stand

Hi Rob (and anyone interested),

Here”s a short video of how I put my road handcycle of the ReActive work stand as requested.  For more information about the ReActive Adaptations work stand, check out http://www.crestedbuttecomputers.com/dev/reactiveadaptations/handcycle-work-stands/.  This work stand fits most handcycles (road and off road) & recumbent trikes (both delta and tadpole config).

The Fusion – Off Road Handcycle and Foot Pedal Trike?

It”s still a prototype, and it needs some testing BUT here is the Fusion.  An off road handcycle but with a foot crankset for a single leg.  Here”s a little vid of the test ride in the ReActive parking lot.  We”re looking forward to getting the Fusion on the local trails and jeep roads!

Dreaming of Summer!

Well, it”s Spring, and still snowing in Crested Butte, Colorado.  That”s okay, we need the moisture “they” say but I”m ready to ride my off road handcycle!   We had a great winter skiing, innovating, building some handcycles and riding fat tires bikes/ handcycles.  If you haven”t watched the FAT tire off road handcycle video by Chris Miller YOU NEED TO!  Wouldn”t these things kick ass on a nice sandy beach right now?  Mud season in Crested Butte or 75 degrees and margaritas?  I think I need to buy a ticket…guess I shouldn”t complain too much, we did make it to Moab for a little pre-season riding last week.
